Are Dentures Right For Me?

Did you know that approximately one-quarter of adults over 65 are missing all their teeth? If you’re considering dentures as a solution, you’re not alone. These prosthetic devices have become a trusted option for restoring missing teeth, blending seamlessly with your natural smile. But are dentures right for you?

To be a suitable candidate for dentures, consider the following:

  1. Desire to replace multiple or all of your teeth.
  2. Non-smoker or non-user of tobacco products.
  3. Healthy jawbone structure (don’t worry if you’re unsure; we can assist with this!).
  4. Absence of chronic dry mouth.
  5. Willingness to maintain proper denture care at home.
  6. Commitment to regular dental check-ups, akin to caring for natural teeth.

How do you ensure proper care for your dentures? Routine maintenance is key, and even with the best prosthetics, regular dental visits are essential. During your appointments, we’ll assess your dentures’ fit and condition while also examining your oral tissues comprehensively. Remember, your oral health matters to us, beyond just your teeth.

At-home denture care tips include:

  1. Remove dentures overnight to give your mouth a break.
  2. Soak dentures in warm water, optionally with a denture cleanser.
  3. Avoid soaking dentures with metal clasps in anything other than warm water.
  4. Store dentures in water when not in use to prevent drying and warping (never in hot water!).
  5. Clean and massage your gums when dentures are out.
  6. If toothbrushing is uncomfortable, try running it under warm water or using a clean, damp cloth wrapped around your finger.
  7. If you have partial dentures, continue brushing your natural teeth as usual.

By following these steps and maintaining regular dental care, you can ensure the longevity and effectiveness of your dentures while preserving your overall oral health.

Google Verified Patient Reviews

I recently visited Affinity Dental Studio for the first time and had a great experience due to the friendly staff and excellent service. As a new patient, I was a bit nervous but they truly made me feel welcome and they definitely know what they’re doing so I had zero issues during my visit. The location itself was clean and modern plus the use of TV/Netflix is a huge bonus as you have something to do while your appointment is taking place. And you can even choose what to watch :) I will definitely be returning here for future appointments and will recommend this location to all my friends and family!
